oh no!

So I have completed all of my photo re-touches but all my jpg files have corrupted so i cannot open them on my computer. :( This unfortunately, means that I can't post them until we go back to school and I have access to photoshop so I can resize my tiff files.

Thoughts on the films

I found the films we watched in class on the people and photography of the Appalachians very interesting. After watching these films I understand even more the impact that images can have on the way people and events are viewed by the world. I think when it came down to the case of the photographer being shot in the mining town it was important to here both sides of the story before judging the situation. I feel like the Appalachian man who shot the photographer may have slightly over-reacted, but was only standing up for a cause he truly believed in. I feel like being photographer, or a person with a gun for that matter, you really have to analyze a situation before you shoot. Also, looking at Shelby Lee Adams work I can see how it becomes controversial. I believe he thinks he is portraying people how he views them, which is true to how they live in there own homes and environments. That being said, I think he is somewhat blind to the way he manipulates his images and the way outsiders view his subjects.
